Eucharist: Sacrifice and Sacrament "...This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."Luke 22:19 Welcome! We invite you to join the celebration of the Eucharist at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. Your presence is a vital part of our community life in Christ. “The holy Eucharist completes Christian initiation. Those who have been raised to the dignity of the royal priesthood by Baptism and configured more deeply to Christ by Confirmation participate with the whole community in the Lord’s own sacrifice by means of the Eucharist” (Catechism 1322). |
| The Sacrament of the Eucharist is
the “source and summit” of Catholic, Christian life. Jesus
Christ “is present in the sacrifice of the Mass both in the person of
his minister, ‘the same now offering through the ministry of priests,
who formerly offered himself on the cross,’ and most of all in the
[consecrated bread and wine]. . . . He is present in his word since it
is he himself who speaks when the holy scriptures are read in church.
Lastly, he is present when the church prays and sings, for he has
promised ‘where two or three are gathered together in my name there am
I in the midst of them’” (Par. 7 Decree on the Sacred Liturgy,
Vatican Council II).
If you have not been received into the Catholic Church, but are interested in becoming Catholic so that you may participate fully in the Mass, please contact Diane Hitchcock at 664-5703 or Fr. Dennis Mende at 664-5703. |
